    Description

Vintage Original 1898 US declares War on Spain -Day Of Newspaper- Spanish-American War - US War Propaganda - Chicago Record
Description: This is an original newspaper from April 19th, 1898 discussing the US War declaration on Spain, kickstarting the Spanish-American War. Now, *technically* this wasn’t a declaration of war, the U.S essentially demanded Spain leave or they would militarily intervene. Spain viewed this as a declaration of war (which it was) but this allowed the growing US nation to avoid angering the other European Powers while still allowing the US to engage in “Manifest Destiny”. Shout out to my homie William Randolph Hearst.
Condition: This newspaper is in phenomenal condition for being 122 years old. There is slight edge tearing and staining along the middle of paper where it was once folded. The horizontal fold has tearing and holes along the length of it underneath the picture. The newspaper is EXTREMELY fragile as well, please take care when you are removing it from the package, I myself will be taking extra care and triple packaging it just for safety as well.
Fun Fact; This paper was printed closer to the inauguration of President George Washington than the inauguration of Donald Trump or Joe Biden
