Lovely unsigned left-facing bust portrait of Admiral George Dewey in full regalia.
George Dewey (1837-1917) was an Admiral of the U.S. Navy and remains the only individual to have achieved the rank. He is third to only George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in the amount of numismatics created in his honor.
Dewey became a national icon after he led an attack on Manila Bay, sinking the entire Spanish Pacific fleet while suffering only minor casualties. Dewey's victory at Manila Bay was widely lauded in the United States, and he was subsequently promoted to Admiral of the Navy and celebrated through the production of various medals, tokens, and ephemera.

Condition:
Very good, antique condition, as found. Paint chipping, scuffing, scratching, and rust throughout. Some debris in recessed areas of sculpture.
