Description

Here is what I believe is a postcard of the 1918 Camp Funston 342
nd
Field Artillery baseball team showing baseball hall of famer Grover Cleveland Alexander who briefly played for this team in 1918 before shipping out to Europe for WW1.
The individual I think is him is in a white uniform sitting down on the left side of the photo.
He played for this team and this postcard was found with another postcard I am offering of a Camp Funston baseball game dated 1918 against the Cardinals in the same white lettering handwriting and numbering system.
There was also a few other major league players that played on this team along with George “Potsy” Clark who was a 1920s/1930s College and NFL coach.
I have not researched to see if any of them are in the picture but the individual I mentioned sure looks like Alexander.
The postcard shows evidence of scrapbook removal with 4 spots of black scrapbook paper on the reverse.
There is a message written on the back.
There is a vertical crease that goes from the top to bottom of the card just to the right of the center of the card.
Card also exhibits handling wear/ staining and corner wear.
