This listing is for a very nice and large antique French ormolu filigree and beveled glass jewelry table top vitrine. The piece measures 12 1/4 inches or 31.1 cm high and is 7 inches or 17.7 cm at its widest. This beautiful glass jewelry casket is constructed with 4 large and thick oval piece of beveled glass set in gilt brass. The base has regal lion's paw feet, and a stunning filigree floral ornamentation throughout. Luxury jewelry boxes like this were made in the mid 1900's and based their feminine decorative designs on antique French rococo boxes- these were meant to emulate ormolu pieces. Inside, there is champagne colored velvet, the middle shelf is covered board and the it is further tufted with little gold buttons. The front is hinged and has a secure closure on the left side. A wonderful vitrine to display your antique jewelry, perfume bottles, dolls, rosaries, or objet de virtu. It is in very good condition there is no damage of any kind to the glass or brass frame, only some small pilling to the fabric on the interior. A nice very pretty jewelry casket.
