Antique Pair of One Of a Kind One Sided Round Handmade Middle Eastern Tambourine Rawhide Drums with Brass Zils and Mother of Pearl Marquetry
This listing is for a handsome pair of one of a kind, artisan, handmade, rawhide tambor drums. Masterfully hand crafted in the Middle East at the early half of this century, these unique percussion instruments are both sumptuously decorative and resonantly musical. They each feature an intricate and mesmerizing pattern of marquetry comprised of bone, mother of pearl, blonde wood and ebony wood. The large drum/ tambourine measures 8 1/2" in diameter by 2 1/4" tall, and exhibits a double row of 5 double brass zils. The small instrument measures 5 1/2" in diameter by 2" tall  and has a single row of 5 double brass zils. These collectible musical pieces are in very good playable used condition; however, they are old and have been played and enjoyed and consequently have several cosmetic issues/ blemishes: missing pieces of marquetry; miscellaneous marks on rawhide and gaps/ wear to drum frame; brass tambourine zils have marks.
