Description
Very whimsical circa 1898 Spanish American War Uncle Sam vs. Spaniard ashtray. The two figures are seen playing tug-o-war with a Cuban cigar in a tobacco leaf. Uncle Sam is dressed in red white and blue regalia, while the Spaniard has a matador’s outfit. The each hold one end of a cigar that appears to be breaking in half. A very well modeled German ceramic piece. Hand painted.Impressed and hand painted numbers on the bottom.
Condition: Spaniard has been repaired. Please see photos.
