    Description

CIRCA 1901-1902, U.S. ARMY, ACTING HOSPITAL STEWARD, CHEVRONS, MATCHED SET, VINTAGE
Green wool construction with white chain stitching and a green Maltese cross with a white wool background. In 1901, these chevrons replaced the chevrons that had a red Geneva Cross. At least one acting hospital steward was to be stationed at every post, and two if the garrison was of six companies or larger. These chevrons originate from an established collection of U.S. Army Chevrons. Unused, NOS. These chevrons were short lived and do not react to ultra violet light. The chevron displayed on the right has several small moth nips.
