    Description

Glass Paperweight, The Dewey Arch, New York, 1900
This glass paperweight has a photo mounted on the underside of the Dewey Arch in New York.
This triumphal arch was erected for a parade in 1899 to honor Admiral George Dewey and the victory of the Battle of Manila Bay in the Philippines in 1898.
The monument was built in Maddison Square in Manhattan, New York, with material typically used for temporary buildings.
The following year it started to deteriorate, and when funding to rebuild the arch fell through, so did the structure, and was soon demolished in 1900.
In very good condition; some scuffing and blemishing to the glass and underside of the image. The edges of the image are worn.
    Staining.
No cracks or chips to the glass.
    Measures approx. 4.25” x 2.75”
Please refer to the photos for condition and detail.
