Description: Late 19th-Early 20th c. Admiral Dewey Clipped Autograph/Signature Paper MountedLate 19th or early 20th century Admiral George Dewey autograph mounted with adhesive on dark paper.
George Dewey (1837-1917) was an Admiral of the U.S. Navy and remains the only individual to have achieved the rank. He is third to only George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in the amount of numismatics created in his honor.
Dewey became a national icon after he led an attack on Manila Bay, sinking the entire Spanish Pacific fleet while suffering only minor casualties. Dewey's victory at Manila Bay was widely lauded in the United States, and he was subsequently promoted to Admiral of the Navy and celebrated through the production of various medals, tokens, and ephemera.

Condition:
Very good, antique condition, as found. Extremely minor toning to autograph paper, more obvious at perimeter. Left side has been ripped, center is creased. Please see photos to best determine overall condition.
