    M1885 Troop Quartermaster Sgt’s Garrison Blouse
    This is a QMD size 4 blouse so this QMD Sgt was a big boy. The Troop Quartermaster Sergeant was authorized in 1899 (hence new chevrons), the Infantry equivalent to this rank was Company Quartermaster Sargent, Battery Quartermaster Sergeant for Artillery. By 1899 the Army developed chevrons for many of the new “specialist” grades recently recognized. The chevrons are original to the coat.
