    Description

This is a full size medal from the US Naval Campaign - West Indies featuring William T. Sampson - Commander in Chief of the Expedition. It is named to Mark M. Sibley; grandson of the first Mayor of Detroit and a famed philanthropist in the area. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Yosemite during the Spanish American War. The back of the medal reads "San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 28th."
This is a superb piece of American history with excellent detail on the medal and a superb story of an individual it was named to.
It is in good condition overall - the clasp has notably snapped or been filed / removed from the medal, but I am unsure why.
