Presented for your consideration is this antique military canteen. Dating to the Spanish-American War, this canteen has a military green canvas exterior with "N.Y. G88" in back stenciled lettering on the front. This marking could possibly indicate the regiment that the soldier who owned this was a part of. Back of the canteen is unmarked but has a small V shaped strap with a clip at the end to attach it to a belt. Center of each side is flexible to aid in getting water out of the canteen. The canteen is finished with the original cork stopper. The stopper easily comes on and off of the canteen. Guaranteed to be old. This neat canteen would make a great addition to any Spanish-American War or general military memorabilia collection!
There is some light staining on the back, along the left side and near the "N.Y." marking. No rips or tears in the canvas. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 7 3/4" wide, 2" deep and 10" tall including the stopper.
