    Description

Attic fresh, an original Spanish soldier's Leopoldina cap from the Spanish American War. Buttons are plain domed ones, but I believe the red outside band over white denotes artillery but defer to anyone with greater knowledge. Rarely seen in any condition, this one is complete and requiring only minor attention. Condition: very solid, red wire cord around the top has come loose at the front as shown. Top of gold braid on cockade is frayed. Rear sweatband shows an old glue repair. Some brown foxing to white felt exterior and overall hat is a bit dusty. Visor is solidly attached, original liner present although maker is unreadable. Amazingly original red feather plume is also present. This is one of two Spanish military hats from the Spanish American War that we have available. Please view our other auction for the other one from this estate.
