  • Condition: These are rare crimson chevrons for ordnance, not the more common red for artillery. Lint and surface dirt. Wrinkles and folds from storage. Stitching traces on two ends. There are two light spots on one chevron, 1” from the point, and three light spots on the other, 2 inches from the edge. These were stitched together by the manufacturer and there are traces of that, so a true matching pair. You are buying the material pictured.

    Description

    Scarce original US Army Ordnance, Indian Wars and Spanish American War era pair of crimson Corporal Chevrons. The color did not photograph well; the chevrons are definitely Ordnance Crimson and not Engineer Red. Dates of authorization were from 1884-1902. Black silk chain stitching along the edges, crimson wool construction. Each chevron measures approximately 1" in width and measures approximately 10 1/2" across at the furthest points. Lint and surface dirt. Wrinkles and folds from storage. Stitching traces on two ends. There are two light spots on one chevron, 1" from the point, and three light spots on the other, 2 inches from the edge.
