Span Am P1892 USMC Marine Band EGA Enlisted Pin Nickel Plate D Snyder Collection

From the D. Snyder Collection, editor of and contributor to Tim Klie's reference publication "United States Marine Corps Eagle, Globe and Anchor Emblem: 1868-1963".
Pattern 1892 enlisted cover emblem. This emblem is nickel plated, and often associated with the Marine Corps Band. I'm not sure if it was specific to any particular band or component, but I have found these in every pattern from 1892-early 1956. This one has had the screw post shortened to be level with the rear of the emblem itself...I don't know why, but it appears to have been done in the era, as evidently by the wear and smooth edges. Well worn, and a very scarce emblem!
