Span. Amer. War Hospital Corps Hat Badge - Acting Hospital Stewards & Privates

Description

Offered here is a 7/8" screwback badge in the shape of a Maltese Cross.  According to internet sources, it is a Spanish-American War era Medical Corps hat insignia for acting hospital stewards and privates of the Hospital Corps. It is not hallmarked, but sources indicate that it is composed of white metal with a screw post and 2 points.  Apparently this is a modified cross of the Knights of St. John.  Nice condition, with nice patina, fully intact as illustrated.  Uncommon item, very nice for collectors. See illustrations.
Offered here is a vintage employee service lapel pin for  Avis Rent-a-Car, the big car rental chain.  This pin is small, lapel pin size, made of gold colored metal with a lightning bolt in the background and the words "Avis Wizard" in the center.  Reverse has a locking clasp back and is gold filled.  Nice, well made pin, presumably a merit award for an employee who met specific criteria or goals or who did something special.  Exact age unknown but I'd guess 70s to early 80s.  Nice item for a transportation pin collector or a current Avis employee.
