is a nice 1st Nebraska Volunteers, Company G dog tag from the Spanish American War.
The item appears to be in
fairly
good condition
although understandably worn
, considering that it’s
about
125 years old
. It has an interesting vintage cord attached.
This has been in a private collection for 15 to 20 years but is now coming back on the market.
It appears through some research as most of you know that the “Fighting First” saw a lot of rough action. Sadly, Company G lost a Captain, among other soldiers during the fighting. I took some screenshots from newspapers.com that pertain to this particular company. Feel free to print them if you are interested.
One of the photos was taken showing the comparison and size with a standard quarter. The quarter does not come with the sale.
