SPANISH AMERICAN WAR KRAG BAYONET - DATED 1898

Description

This is a very fine Spanish American War Model 1896 Krag Rifle bayonet and scabbard in excellent condition. The dark walnut grips are flawless and without damage. The blade is marked, “U.S.” on one ricasso and “1898” on the other. It measures 17 inches in length, is unsharpened and with a light age toned bright finish. The blade has not been sharpened, is without nicks, and retains the original factory tip. Both the pommel and cross guard are with a steel-gray finish matching that of the blade. The metal scabbard is with a gun-metal blue finish and without dents or damage. The throat features the 2nd pattern Krag swivel type hanger. This is a nice early dated bayonet that would have seen service in all the campaigns of the Spanish American War.
