    Description

    Here we have a fine Spanish American War Marine Corps U.S.M.C. marked haversack in excellent field used condition. It is constructed of light khaki colored canvas with the interior body sectionalized with a pocket for the meat can and large pocket on the inside of the flap. The outer flap is nicely stenciled with, “U.S.M.C.” in the middle. The canvas closure strap is torn about halfway through near the underside of the flap. Nevertheless, it remains strong and is not in danger of tearing through. Attached to the haversack is its correct leather sling, which is strong, pliable, and unmarked. It is attached by means of the brass end hooks passing through the brass “D” rings sewn to the rear of the body. Lightly inked at the top is what appears to be the name, “F. Hall” or the initials “F.H. …” The haversack is clean and solid with no rips or damage. It is lightly soiled from actual field use and remains a fine-looking example in excellent and undamaged field used condition.
