Spanish American War Era US Army Pattern 1902 Canvas Haversack Pack 2nd Type
Up for auction is a Spanish American War Era US Army Pattern 1902 Canvas Haversack Pack, 2nd Type.  The haversack is used, see photo's for  condition.  The haversacks are soiled and discolored from age.  The metal parts of the pack have corrosion.  They will all need a good cleaning.  No major rips or tears, may be some minor holes.  Some will have hand written names and some will have various unit markings.  Some will still have the Rock Island Arsenal markings under the top flap.
NOTE: there in only one haversack remaining, that one has a small tear on the rear and is missing the closure strap.
The bag is made of drab duck canvas with spring hooks on the upper corners of the back and a 14" x 15" flap on the front.  Inside, the pack is divided into two compartments, with a pocket on the front designed to hold the 1874 meat can.  There is a utensil pocket on each side for storage of a knife and fork.  This bag used the detachable 2" wide canvas shoulder strap (not included).
