    Description

    US Army M1885 Trousers, Mid Blue pants 100% ORIGINAL period Spanish American war / Indian Wars period. There is a faint depot ink stamp with a date that looks like it might be 1903. Approx 31 in waist and 33 inch inseam. Some light moth tracking and a few isolated pinhole size holes. overall very good condition. Extremely hard to find US Military issue trousers.
    Pattern 1885 trousers are the same as 1884 trousers, but made with the 1885 regulation darker shade of sky blue (referred to as Mid-Blue) wool. The color is actually closer to a Royal Blue, than a Medium Blue. The regulations called for "Goods of a somewhat darker and more serviceable color, less liable to result from in the diversity of shades found in the deliveries of the various contracts". Reports state that dye lots of this new color still varied greatly.
